Christian Counseling for Anger & Forgiveness

Healing Beneath the Surface

"Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath." — Ephesians 4:26

You Don't Have to Let Anger Control Your Life

Maybe you're tired of being angry.

You find yourself reacting more strongly than you want, saying things you regret, withdrawing from people you love, or carrying resentment long after a conflict is over.

Maybe someone has hurt you deeply, and you're struggling to forgive.

You may be asking:

Why am I still so angry?
How do I forgive someone who hurt me?
Does forgiveness mean what happened didn't matter?
How can I respond differently?

There is hope.

At New Beginning Counseling Ministry, Christian counseling for anger and forgiveness looks beneath the anger to understand the hurt, fear, rejection, disappointment, or resentment underneath it. Through biblical counseling, we can begin working toward healing, healthier relationships, and greater emotional and spiritual freedom.

Understanding Anger from a Biblical Perspective

Anger itself is not always sinful. Scripture says, "Be angry, and do not sin."

Anger can alert us that something is wrong or that we've been hurt. The problem comes when anger begins controlling our thoughts, words, and actions.

Unresolved anger can lead to bitterness, resentment, damaged relationships, and emotional distance from God.

Christian counseling can help you recognize your triggers, understand your thought patterns, and learn healthier, God-honoring responses.

When Anger Hurts Your Relationships

Anger often affects the people closest to us.

You may love your spouse, children, family, or friends but find yourself caught in patterns of conflict, withdrawal, or repeated arguments.

Together, we can explore what's happening beneath those reactions and work toward healthier communication, emotional regulation, forgiveness, and reconciliation where appropriate.

The goal isn't simply to control your anger. It's to understand it and learn how to respond differently.

Biblical Forgiveness

Forgiveness doesn't mean that what happened was okay.

It doesn't mean forgetting the hurt, ignoring unhealthy behavior, or automatically trusting someone again.

Biblical forgiveness means surrendering our desire for personal revenge and placing justice in God's hands.

Sometimes forgiveness is a process. Healing can take time, especially when the wound is deep.

God can help you release resentment without denying the reality of your pain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is anger always sinful?

No. Anger is an emotion. Scripture teaches us to experience anger without allowing it to lead us into sinful or destructive behavior.

Do I have to forgive someone who hasn't apologized?

Forgiveness is a decision we make before God. It does not require another person's apology and does not automatically mean reconciliation or restored trust.

Does forgiveness mean I have to trust someone again?

No. Forgiveness and trust are different. Trust may need to be rebuilt through consistent, trustworthy behavior.

What if my anger comes from deep emotional wounds?

Those wounds deserve to be taken seriously. Christian counseling can provide a safe place to explore those wounds and begin the healing process.

A Moment with God

Heavenly Father,

Help us bring our anger, hurt, and resentment honestly before You. Teach us to be slow to speak, slow to anger, and quick to listen.

Where there is bitterness, bring healing. Where there is resentment, bring freedom. Give us wisdom to establish healthy boundaries and the strength to forgive without denying our pain.

Create in us a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within us.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
